WebEngage’s Year in Review 2022: New features, enhancements, and more

Home - Blog - WebEngage’s Year in Review 2022: New features, enhancements, and more

2022 was a year full of new milestones for us – we kicked off with Engagemint’22, our flagship event, introduced yet another cohort of the Startup Program and expanded our presence in Indonesia. But that’s not all! We have grown even stronger with 800+ customers globally, clocking in over 377Bn messages sent across 12+ engagement channels and 110K Journeys activated.

On the product end, we released many new features, product enhancements, onboarded integration partners, and more to #SimplifyRetention for your business. Continue reading to catch up on everything we’ve been up to before we wrap up this year.

Features in the spotlight

Recommendation & Catalog

We enabled the power of recommendation at the marketer’s fingertips with the Recommendation and Catalog feature release. With this feature, you can now upload your product catalog, use it to fetch updated product information, and enrich your personalized messages. You can also create recommendation strategies based on any custom event and send personalized user recommendations across channels, including email, WhatsApp, Push notifications, and more. To know more on how to leverage this feature, read our blog.

App Personalization

Extending personalization capabilities from website to app! This year we launched app in-line to help you serve personalized experiences to users on the app. Similar to our earlier web in-line release, this feature allows you to leverage user attributes and custom events to seamlessly personalize any part of your app without serving pop-up campaigns.

With app in-line, you can:

  • Personalize any part of your app (hero banner, category pages, and more),
  • Utilize any custom event or user attribute to personalize your message, and
  • Provide a seamless user experience with personalized banners merging seamlessly with your app UI.

Shopify integration

Customer engagement and retention are essential for D2C businesses, and our integration with Shopify allows you to integrate your Shopify store with the WebEngage dashboard in just a few clicks! Once integrated, we automatically start tracking custom events such as purchases made, products added to cart, and more. Leverage the ease and convenience of this integration for your business, and for more inspiration on customer engagement and retention, read our blog.

Campaign Optimization

A small change can make a big difference, and we made several small changes to optimize the campaign creation process on the WebEngage dashboard. Starting with best channel, you can optimize your campaigns as per your user’s preference. Our system identifies the best communication channel for each user in your database. You can leverage best channel while creating live segments or use them in journeys and relays.

We also end the ‘when to send’ debate for most marketers out there with send intelligently. This feature allows you to customize send time of your campaign based on when the user is most likely to engage with it.

We also introduced a split block in journeys and relays to go beyond A/B or variation testing, split users and optimize journeys in real time. You can use this block to test different send time or channel strategies. Refer to our blog for a detailed read on this feature.

Mobile Push improvements

Push notifications have always been an essential part of app marketing strategy, and we focused on 2 aspects – delivery and campaign creation. On campaign creation, we enhanced the creation process by enabling you to add background colors, rich text and media, message summary (for Android), and subtitles (for iOS).

We introduced support for Chinese devices such as Xiaomi and Huawei on the delivery end to enhance push notification delivery. Combined with our amplification engine, it can augment the delivery of your push notifications by up to 75%. To know more about it, read our blog.

Predictive Segments & Engagement Score

We’re on a mission to help you leverage machine learning in your marketing campaigns. With that in mind, predictive segmentation takes the guesswork out of segmenting your audience. By identifying a business event, such as a purchase made, you can create segments of users most likely, moderately likely, and least likely to perform the specified event. Read more about it in our blog post.

Besides this, you can now score users based on various custom and system events. This allows you to bucket users performing certain actions and create a strategic marketing campaign. You can use engagement scoring to segment users and send contextualized messages.

Please note: Both of these features are part of our BETA release, so if you wish to access them, drop us a request at product@webengage.com.

Enabling a cohesive marketing strategy

Fragmented customer data across different platforms can create hindrances in providing a seamless customer experience, and we understand that. In 2022, we onboarded 20 integration partners to cut through data silos and simplify customer engagement.

What’s next?

That covers our roundup for 2022. What new features and updates should you expect in 2023? Stay tuned for updates about exporting funnel lists, notification inbox, and more. Look out for monthly product updates to know when we go live and to get access to these features.
